Sunday School matters. Be revolutionary!

Sunday School/Small Group Community and Content

December 9, 2009 by Darryl Wilson Leave a Comment

Today’s State Convention Summit at LifeWay has been stretching in so many ways. I am chewing on so much of what has been said and shared. I am enjoying spending time with peers (others doing Sunday School/small group work from the other Southern Baptist state conventions) and with friends from LifeWay. David Francis, the Sunday School director at LifeWay, shared some thoughts about the Sunday School/small groups continuum from biblical community to biblical content.

In our afternoon session, Bob Mayfield, suggested changing the representation of the two terms biblical community and biblical content from a continuum to a graph. Let me see if I can lay it out for you to chew on and respond to. If 1 is low and 10 in high, where would you put an X in the grid below representing where your class, group, or Sunday School/small group ministry is in biblical community and biblical content? Press comments below when you have had a chance to think about this:

Where would you like for your class, group, or ministry to be? What can you do to move them in that direction? What do you think? Does this grid connect? What is wrong with it?

Disciple-Making Encounters

Two encounters are critical. First, the leader encounters God in His Word and is changed. Second, the leader guides the group to have a life-changing encounter.
